Our Story
Shea Hut is a Chicago-based micro-manufacturer specializing in handcrafted skin care, hair care, wellness, and aroma products. We are a family-owned and operated company built on creativity, quality, and care.
Our journey began in 1999 with a single 100-pound container of raw Shea Butter imported from Ghana, West Africa — long before Shea Butter became widely recognized in the American mainstream market.
The Beginning
In our early years, we traveled to local markets and vending events offering pure, raw Shea Butter directly to customers. Again and again, people asked the same question:
"Do you have a scented version?"
That simple request sparked the creation of what would become one of our signature products — Shea Whip™.
At the time, whipped and scented Shea Butter products were rarely seen in the marketplace. While we do not claim to be the very first, we proudly recognize ourselves as among the pioneers of the whipped Shea Butter movement.
That is why we proudly call Shea Whip™:
“The Original.”

As formulators, creatives, and product developers, we continued exploring new ways to combine natural ingredients, functionality, and sensory experience into products people genuinely enjoy using.
Over the years, we’ve watched many brands grow rapidly — often sacrificing ingredient quality, craftsmanship, and personal customer care in the process.
We chose a different path.
